BRANDT VOICE STUDIO

Studio Policies

A clear guide to scheduling, cancellations, and enrollment, so lessons stay simple for everyone.

Cancellations & Makeup Credits

  • Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice receive a makeup credit.

  • Same-day cancellations are handled at the teacher's discretion and are not guaranteed a credit.

  • No-shows (no notice given) do not receive a credit; the lesson is forfeited.

  • A makeup lesson that is itself cancelled does not generate a second credit.

  • Families may hold up to 3 active credits at a time. Beyond that cap, additional credits are at the teacher's discretion.

  • Credits expire 30 days from the date of cancellation.

  • Credits may be shared between siblings within the same family.

  • Cancellations are submitted through the My Music Staff client portal, which time-stamps the request to confirm 24-hour notice. In the event you cannot cancel though the My Music Staff client portal, please notify Brandt Voice Studio by calling (215) 403-6394 or emailing brandtvoicestudio@gmail.com

Teacher Cancellations & Closures

  • If the teacher cancels a lesson, the client receives an automatic makeup credit that does not expire.

  • Planned teacher absences (e.g. vacation) also receive a non-expiring makeup credit.

  • Professional development, conferences, and in-service days are treated as studio closures, built into the monthly tuition rate, with no credit needed.

  • Weather-related or emergency studio closures are treated the same way: a non-expiring credit is issued.

Holiday Closures & Inclement Weather

  • The studio is closed between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, Spring Break (dependent on the Pennridge School District's schedule), Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the Saturday following Thanksgiving.

  • The studio does not follow the Pennridge School District calendar for all school closures, but reserves the right to close for minor holidays such as M.L.K. Day, Columbus Day, Presidents Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, etc. This is subject to change; please keep an eye on your email, as there may be times these holidays are used for in-service days.

  • Holiday and in-service closures are built into the monthly tuition rate and do not require a credit or makeup. During holiday cancellations or teacher in-service days, makeup credits will not be issued.

  • The studio follows the Pennridge School District for inclement weather cancellations.

  • In the event of inclement weather, families will be notified by text of a studio closure.

  • Inclement weather closures are treated as a teacher cancellation and receive a non-expiring makeup credit.

Membership Tuition & Pricing

Membership tuition guarantees a regular weekly lesson time with your teacher, with the exception of studio closures or teacher cancellations.

  • 30-minute lessons: $170/month

  • 60-minute lessons: $340/month

  • For new students, payment of the registration fee and first month's tuition reserves your enrollment; a time slot is not considered reserved until payment is received.

  • Membership tuition is a flat monthly fee reflecting an annual average of lessons per year, not the exact number of lessons in a given month. Most months include 4 or 5 lessons, and on occasion, 3 lessons in months affected by major holidays, school breaks, or studio in-service days. Studio closures for holidays, in-service days, and inclement weather are accounted for and reflected in the membership fee, so months with fewer lessons cost the same as months with more.

  • Lessons are billed monthly, reserving your student's weekly time slot on the schedule.

  • Tuition is prorated for students enrolling mid-month.

  • A one-time $30 registration fee is due for new students at enrollment.

  • Accepted payment methods: credit, debit, cash, or check.

  • Credit and debit payments are automatically charged on the 1st of each month.

  • Cash and check payments are due at the first lesson of each month.

  • Withdrawing from the studio requires 30 days' written notice to the teacher.

  • If a payment fails to process (e.g. an expired or replaced card), families have a 10-day grace period to update payment information before a late fee applies.

  • A $20 late fee is applied to any payment not resolved within the grace period.

  • If payment remains unresolved and the student attends 2 lessons into an unpaid month, the family will be notified that lessons are paused and the time slot is no longer guaranteed to be held until payment is received.

  • Tuition payments are non-refundable once paid.

5-Lesson Pass

  • Pass price: $225

  • Includes 5 30-minute lessons, to be scheduled within 90 days of purchase.

  • Lessons not scheduled within the 90-day window are forfeited.

Single Coaching

  • 30-minute coaching: $50

  • 60-minute coaching: $100

  • Singers who enroll in a single coaching must send the music they wish to work on to brandtvoicestudio@gmail.com prior to their coaching.

Trial Lessons

  • The $45 trial lesson counts as the student's first official lesson.

  • The trial fee is non-refundable.

  • If a family enrolls within 72 hours of the trial, the $45 is applied toward the first month's tuition.

  • Trial lessons do not follow the standard same-day cancellation policy. If a conflict or illness comes up, the trial may be cancelled and rescheduled.

Lesson Arrival

  • Lessons end at their scheduled time regardless of a late start; a late arrival does not extend the lesson.

  • Students more than 15 minutes late for a 30-minute lesson forfeit the remainder of the lesson.

  • Students more than 25 minutes late for a 60-minute lesson forfeit the remainder of the lesson.

Parent Attendance

  • Parents are welcome to sit in on the trial lesson, provided the student is comfortable with it.

  • For all lessons after the trial, only the enrolled student is permitted in the lesson.

  • Special requests or exceptions to any studio policy should be discussed privately with the teacher.

Communication

  • Communication between the studio and families takes place by text, phone, email, or the My Music Staff portal.

  • By enrolling or signing up on the studio website, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Brandt Voice Studio, including lesson reminders, scheduling updates, and occasional studio announcements. Message and data rates may apply. See the Privacy Policy below for message frequency and opt-out details.

  • Text consent is not required to purchase lessons or enroll. You may opt out of text communication at any time by notifying the teacher; note that opting out may make scheduling and cancellation notices slower.

Sick Students

Voice lessons involve close contact and sustained breathing in a shared space, so keeping illness out of the studio protects both your student and the teacher.

  • Students who are sick should not attend their lesson in person, but may attend virtually if they are able to.

  • A student who arrives visibly sick may be turned away by the teacher at their discretion.

  • Canceling for illness is always appreciated. Please notify the teacher as soon as you know your student is unwell.

  • Sick cancellations follow the standard cancellation policy above: 24 hours' notice for a guaranteed credit, with same-day cancellations, for any reason including illness, at the teacher's discretion.

Practice Expectations

  • The teacher will communicate expected practice for the week based on what's covered in each lesson.

  • Lesson notes are provided through the My Music Staff portal.

  • Improvement depends largely on the student's dedication to practicing what's worked on between lessons.

  • Students are expected to bring their music and materials to every lesson.

  • Obtaining and maintaining musical materials (sheet music, method books, etc.) is the responsibility of the student and family.

Confidentiality

  • Personal, medical, and payment information shared with the studio is kept private and used only as needed to provide lessons and ensure student safety.

  • Family and student information is never sold or shared with third parties outside of the studio.

Studio's Right to Terminate Enrollment

  • The studio reserves the right to end a student's enrollment for repeated late or unresolved payment, chronic no-shows or late cancellations, or disruptive behavior.

  • Where possible, families will be given 2 weeks' notice before enrollment ends.

  • In cases involving safety or serious misconduct, enrollment may be ended immediately, without notice.

Liability

  • Care of students: Brandt Voice Studio is not responsible for providing before or after lesson care for students.

  • Personal belongings: Brandt Voice Studio is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.

  • By enrolling, families acknowledge that voice lessons, like any physical and vocal activity, carry an inherent, minimal risk, and agree to release, indemnify, defend, and forever discharge Brandt Voice Studio and its teacher from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses arising from injury or illness sustained during or as a result of participation in lesson-related activities, except where caused by the studio's negligence.

  • Parents/guardians are responsible for providing accurate emergency contact and any relevant medical information (e.g. allergies, asthma, vocal health conditions) for enrolled minors.

  • The studio will contact the emergency contact on file in the event of an injury, illness, or emergency during a lesson.

Photo & Video Release

  • From time to time, the studio may photograph or record lessons, recitals, or events for use on social media, the studio website, or promotional materials.

  • Signing this policy at enrollment constitutes consent to this use, including permission for Brandt Voice Studio to copyright such photographs and videos in its own name.

  • Families may opt out at any time by notifying the teacher in writing, no explanation needed. Once opted out, that student will not be featured, tagged, or identifiable in any studio content going forward, and withdrawing consent does not affect enrollment.
